The Highgate Library and Community Center will be closed effective Wednesday, March 18th at 6:00 pm until April 6th, or until it has been deemed safe to open.

Staff members will be answering phone calls and emails during most business hours Monday through Thursday. Please know that we are not taking this action lightly and will continue to monitor health department recommendations. Please contact the library with any questions or concerns (802) 868-3970 or hlccvt@gmail.com/. We will still be available to assist you remotely.

Online Resources: if you are not already using our downloadable ebook and audiobook services https://gmlc.overdrive.com/ we encourage you to do so. You DO need a library card number and a pin code. Most accounts are pre-set with the pin code read. We can open an account for you over the phone and assist you in accessing this service. You can also get ebooks for free at https://www.gutenburg.org

Other online resources:

Wifi: Free public wifi is always accessible just outside the library.  The network is TOH-PUBLIC and the password is Sh0rtSt0ry.

Book returns: Please don’t worry if you are unable to get to the library to return books by the due date. No one will be penalized during this time. If you are healthy enough to do so you may drop them in our outside book return.

Please know that we will continue to monitor the situation and are seeking new ways to safely serve our library community. We will continue to update our website, facebook page, and postings outside the library.

Beginning Tuesday, March 17th all library programs are canceled until further notice. The library will remain open regular hours unless the situation worsens. We will wipe down books as they are returned and continue sanitizing everything we can. Please, if you are sick stay home! We are happy to deliver books to you or renew books over the phone.

As a public service, the Vermont Department of Libraries has created this coronoavirus information page:
