What is VELI STEM?
VELI-STEM stands for “Vermont Early Literacy Initiative – Science Technology Engineering Mathematics”. The HLCC is proud to be one of 26 Vermont libraries chosen to participate in this exciting project to help bring science inquiry and physical science programs to our youngest community members!
Why STEM for young children?
HLCC STEM Programs
Children and families can expect to see more STEM concepts integrated into existing library programs, like storytime, after school programs, Summer Reading and at community outreach events.
This summer children are once again invited to join us for STEM Challenge Monday’s!
Children will have the opportunity to participate in a new STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) Challenge every Monday during our summer reading program from 1-3. This program is open to children in preschool and up, but those under age 10 must have an adult in attendance with them.
Our Summer STEM Challenge Monday’s event Schedule will be out soon… so stay tuned!
Materials are limited for some of our events, so pre-registration is highly recommended (and can now be done online)!
